Lynyrd Skynyrd is playing a show at the Comcast Center on September 9th with old pals ZZ Top. The bands have toured together multiple times so this concert should be awesome! Expect plenty of songs off their new album Last Of A Dyin’ Breed, which Medlocke says fans have been loving at recent shows.

Medlocke says the guys have routinely opened their recent concerts with the title track, while also playing the tracks “One Day at a Time,” “Good Teacher,” and “Mississippi Blood,” among other potential performances.

When asked who will perform first between them and ZZ Top at the WZLX 26th Anniversary Concert, Medlocke strongly hinted that Lynyrd Skynyrd will go on first. But based on the band’s deep well of classic southern rock hits, ZZ Top has their work cut out for them as de-facto headliners.

“We finish with ‘[Sweet Home] Alabama’ and ‘Freebird’, so people have to follow that,” he said.

Skynyrd is also set to perform for the Wounded Warriors Association as part of a Republican National Convention event in Florida, which inevitably led to Kevin Karlson asking whether Rickey supported Mitt Romney. He declined to talk about politics.

Answering a questions for many possibly curious fans, Rickey confirmed that the band made no money at all in royalties off the movie called Sweet Home Alabama – but he did audition for a part in it!
